Lone Star Quilt
I had previously created other Lone Stars, but this particular one inspired me to incorporate a partial Dresden in each corner. I believe that adding the Dresden blocks in the corners beautifully anchors the star, enhancing its overall design. The process of bringing this vision to life was incredibly enjoyable, allowing me to explore my creativity and experiment with new elements. Each stitch was a delight, and I loved how the combination of the Lone Star and the Dresden added depth and character to the quilt.
I had finished this one by quilting in the ditch and now it is given to a friend and it is on the wall in their house.
Scrappy Lone Star Quilt
This scrappy Lone Star and all the surrounding stars came straight from the extra fabrics in my stash. The center Lone Star was pieced from leftover Jelly Roll strips, while the stars around it were made from yardage I cut into 2.5‑inch strips. Sew the strips together, slice them on the diagonal, and suddenly you’ve got a star bursting to life.
The other stars were made from half‑square triangles, which create a bold, crisp shape all their own. I didn’t want a Lone Star floating alone in the middle with nothing to keep it company, so I added these extra stars to frame it. The result is a constellation of scraps—each one shining with its own story.
