Wonky Star Double Irish Chain Quilt

✨ From the Cedar Chest: The Wonky Star Double Irish Chain
Look what I pulled out of the cedar chest — my Wonky Star Double Irish Chain quilt. Its journey started with the Kindred Stars pattern by Red Door Designs, a quilt that caught my eye with its classic symmetry and timeless charm.
But as any crooked quilter would, I couldn’t leave it alone. I wanted it to feel like mine. So I swapped out the inner star and tucked a pinwheel into the center instead. And in true crooked‑quilter fashion, those star legs decided to wander a bit — turning just wonky enough to give the quilt personality.
The Irish Chain still runs proudly through the design, linking everything together. Every square in this quilt comes from leftover fabrics — treasures pulled from past projects, nothing bought new. It’s a quilt stitched from memories, scraps, and the joy of making something out of what you already have.
I’m still adding an additional border to the quilt top, but I wanted to share it here along with the inspirational quilt that started it all. Two quilts, side by side — one traditional, one delightfully crooked — both part of the same story.
