60 Degrees of Illusion

Look what came out of the chest.

60 Degrees of Illusion

Some quilts just make you stop and look twice.

This quilt is made entirely from 60-degree triangles, using a design by Ruth Ann Berry from her book Stunning 3-D Quilts Simplified. What looks like complicated, interlocking pieces is actually created from the placement of simple triangles, color, and value.

I chose the fabrics and colors for my own version, and I love the way the bright jewel tones seem to weave over and under one another against the deep navy background.

One of the things I enjoy most about quilting is discovering what can happen when simple shapes are put together in unexpected ways. The finished quilt can look far more complicated than the pieces that created it.

And, of course, there are a few things that aren't perfectly straight. πŸ˜‰

That's why I'm The Crooked Quilter.
